Lightbulb Moment
I'm not going to go on about my absence from the blogging land........it would be a big fat pack of lies!
Fact is......i'm rubbish at blogging!
BUT.....the main reason for my return is Calico Craft Parts. They are back! Bigger and better than before......and i'm sooooo chuffed to be invited back to design for them.
My first piece for them is actually an arty piece i made for a swap i organised, Basically we had to upcycle something we were throwing out. I chose a lump of wood that my bossman was slinging out having sawn the leg off of a shelving unit! My swap piece was going off to a crafty pal called Jo, so i thought it would be nice to incorporate her name into the piece.........
The lump of wood was rusted up with ten second studio paint, pot luck sometimes as to how the paint dries. Pretty happy with the way it turned out!
The limbs were made with air drying clay and a mold, which were then painted with Decoart quinacridone gold and then a bit of stamping over the top.
Using a craft knife, i cut out the belly and filled it with glossy accents and watch parts. She was going to have a head......but i broke it! Hence the lightbulb moment coming into effect!
I embossed the mini wood plaques with rust powder and added canvas strips that were stamped with the lettering. Love these mini plaques........a real staple thing to have in your craft stash.
Final thing was to add the lightbulb for the head. This was a pain in the butt, and i did say 'sugar' a few times. ;)
I kinda liked her in the end......and apparently Jo did too....so all was good.
The new Calico blog is nearly up and running.....will post the link when it goes live. In the meantime, skip over the shop and have a mooch. You'll find oodles of things that will want to come and live with you.
Because i haven't blogged since before Christ.......high chance no-one will read this!
But if you do, i salute you and say big thanks.
L.xx
